Innovation Center dedicated

Creating the best opportunities for students is at the heart of what we do. That truth was on full display Friday as we gathered to dedicate our new Cardinal Innovation Center.

The renovated building behind Robert D. Campbell Junior High is now home to our Phoenix Academy, Cardinal Virtual Academy, and STEM/TRT programs.

The state-of-the-art center gives students unprecedented opportunities to explore, innovate, and thrive.

“We're celebrating a really exciting moment not only for the kids, but also the district and the community,” said Innovation Center Director Dr. Lindsay Hale. “Inside this building we're creating opportunities. This center is all about meeting kids where they are and helping them grow.”

Phoenix sophomore Kaylee Townsend says that’s exactly what Phoenix has done for her.

“I love this building and can’t wait to come here Tuesday,” she said. “As a Phoenix student, I feel like they really show they care. They don’t just sit you in a chair give you a packet. Our teachers walk us through step by step and explain everything. People learn different ways and I need more step-by-step attention. That’s how I learn and understand. If it wasn't for me coming to Phoenix, I would have failed and I would not have made it.”

The Phoenix Academy provides individualized instruction to keep students on a path to success.

The Cardinal Virtual Academy offers flexible learning options for dozens of students.

Our STEM teachers integrate science, technology, engineering, and mathematics education with creative, hands-on activities.

Our Technology Resource Teachers work with staff and students to ensure they are proficient in using the latest tech breakthroughs to enhance learning.

“We are thrilled to provide a dedicated space for students to pursue their passions and give them the support they need,” said Superintendent Dustin Howard. “We call this the Innovation Center because every program housed here inspires creativity and invention.”

Phase 3 of the renovation is still underway, which will create two bays that will allow pathway expansion and other workforce readiness opportunities.

A huge CCPS Thank You to the Clark County Board of Education for supporting the Cardinal Innovation Center vision. Shoutout to our staff for putting together a wonderful reception.

The Innovation Center will officially open to students and staff Tuesday, marking a huge milestone in our pledge to prepare students for a productive future.
